Kilimanjaro Training: Session #2

This weekend I took my second walk in preparation for my stroll up Kilimanjaro.

While I didn’t tackle any hills as such, I made use of the snowy weather and went out to see how I could cope in adverse conditions…and to get some shopping!

I walked in total for 2 hours and 40 minutes and managed to rack up a distance of 12.9KM.

It was a worthwhile exercise as I carried all of our shopping home in a rucksack on my back to prepare myself for carrying my trekking gear.

I also made an interesting discovery as I trudged through the slush and snow and found my boots leaking!  Having wet feet was really uncomfortable and made me so miserable and walking in the snow was so much effort.  Buying a new pair of waterproof boots has definitely made its way to the top of my to-do list!

Here’s a picture of me with my rucksack full of shopping, and also a little glimpse of my walk tracked on the Strava application on my phone.
