Statement from Congregational

We refer to our statement dated 20 March 2020 concerning the closure of churches in order to protect members, employees, volunteers and users of the property from infection by COVID – 19.

In view of the statement made last night by the Prime Minister, it is clear that it may not be possible, for a period of time, to make the requested inspections. We understand this and can assure all our policyholders that we do not expect anyone to place themselves at any unnecessary risk in this regard.

We therefore confirm that if it is not possible for you to safely make the required inspections, then these parts of our statement are waived until such time as it is safe to reintroduce. We accept that it is of the utmost importance that we all follow the guidance of the Government and Public Health England.

We would in the meantime request that reasonable efforts are made to protect the church during this difficult period wherever possible and safe to do so.

Note

The situation with COVID-19 is continuing to develop and if we receive new instructions from the UK Government or Regulator, we may be required to adapt this statement further. In that event we will let you know.
