Refurbishment and Re-dedication of URC Church House

David and Sandy were honoured to be invited to the Opening Celebrations of the newly refurbished Church House on Saturday 30th September.

The building has been home to the head office of the United Reformed Church since it was rebuilt in 1956 after being bombed and destroyed during the Second World War.  However, after over 60 years of use by the URC it was due for an overhaul.

The refurbishment cost around £2.65m and has included improvements to access, energy use and workspaces, as well as the release of the second floor of the building which is to be let to an external tenant.

We were delighted to see how our donation had been used, namely to help fund the glass panels in the internal doors.

A service led by Alan Yates (Moderator of General Assembly) was held at neighbouring Lumen URC for the rededication of Church House.  Afterwards, the congregation travelled the short distance to Church house where a ribbon was cut at the entrance door.
