Quakers & The First World War Exhibition

David attended a Quakers & the First World War event at the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery which tells the story of Quaker families during the 1914-1918 conflict. The exhibition uses rare archival material to explore Quaker humanitarian, medical and relief work in Britain and Europe.

As well as looking at those living in the local area, it also examined the impact of the war on Quakers all over the country and the young men who faced the difficult decision to fight, face imprisonment or serve in other ways.

This event was particularly special to David who commented:  “I was fortunate to have the opportunity to visit this excellent exhibition at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery. It was especially poignant for me as my father Lewis was a conscientious objector during the Second World War and he served with the Friends Ambulance Unit. I would encourage anyone to visit should they have the opportunity.”

The Faith & Action event continues every day until 7th June 2015 at the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery if you would like to visit.
