Charity Fundraising Gala for the Moroccan Children’s Trust

Sandy and I recently attended a Charity Fundraising Gala for the Moroccan Children’s Trust in London. Their main aim is to involve as many children as possible in activities, trying to convince them not to spend their time on the street but to use it to do something to help themselves. The centre in Morocco runs a variety of activities for the children including a pre-school program, school support classes and sports activities. As well as working with Moroccan children, MCT also works with the families of the children they support. The women’s project runs a weekly group meeting for mothers of the children they work with, providing them with a safe space to discuss issues that concern them and carry out different activities and workshops. Finally the volunteer project aims to send volunteers to Taroudannt to work on the community programmes that are based there. Volunteers usually stay in Taroudannt for 2-6 months, giving them a chance to experience Moroccan life as well as having an impact on the local community.
